Floristry course in Alicante: what you'll learn at Florex Academy
Floristry course in Alicante: what you'll learn at Florex Academy
A clear guide to what you'll learn on our in-person courses, from your first spiral bouquet to the real work of a professional florist.
Studio on Calle Colón 8 · Small groups · Fresh flowers
Learning floristry isn't about memorising rules. It's about training your hands, your eye and your judgement while working with real flowers. That's exactly what we do at Florex Academy.
If you're looking for a floristry course in Alicante, you probably have the same questions most of our students ask before they start: do I need experience, what will I actually learn, will I really be able to make a proper bouquet? This guide walks you through, step by step, what you'll learn on our in-person courses in central Alicante.
Florex is a boutique flower studio in central Alicante with over twelve years of experience. From our studio on Calle Colón 8 we teach modern floristry to complete beginners, to people who want to give and decorate with taste, and to anyone dreaming of a career working with flowers.
You learn by doing, not by watching
This is what an in-person course gives you: in every class you work with your own hands, with fresh flowers from day one. The theory is brief and leads straight into practice. The instructor helps each person individually, because the groups are small (4 to 6 people). And at the end of every class, you take your own creation home.
"We don't teach you to copy a bouquet. We teach you to understand why a bouquet works."
The techniques you'll master
These are the fundamentals of modern floristry you'll practise in the studio. Each one is a building block, and together they give you the freedom to create whatever you imagine.
The spiral bouquet
The foundation of everything. You'll learn to arrange stems in a spiral to build a balanced bouquet with a clear centre and form.
Lightness and movement
The unstructured bouquet: how to create air, levels and natural movement instead of a dense block of flowers.
Kenzan composition
The Japanese minimalist technique: working with line, space and the rule of thirds.
Floral foam
Balance, proportion and focal point to build a boxed arrangement with seasonal flowers.
Two paths, depending on your goal
Not everyone comes to Florex Academy with the same goal. That's why we offer two different courses, both fully in-person and in small groups.
Flowers for home
For anyone who wants to learn to make bouquets for themselves, decorate their home and gifts, or simply try floristry from scratch and enjoy it. It's 5 classes of 2.5 hours, and you take your creation home from each one: your first spiral bouquet, an unstructured bouquet, a kenzan composition, a boxed arrangement and a final modern bouquet with anthurium.
Professional floristry
For anyone who wants to work as a florist, make the leap professionally or open their own business. It's 7 days of 3 to 4 hours combining theory and practice: from professional handling of cut flowers to working with clients, sales psychology, working against the clock in a shop and a final exam with portfolio preparation.
What you take with you, beyond the skills
- A Florex tote bag and a notebook
- A Florex Academy certificate on completion
- Your own florist's secateurs and knife
- All tools during the course
- Flowers and materials for every exercise
- Your finished pieces, ready to take home
Do I need any experience?
No. Most of our students start from scratch. The "Flowers for home" course is designed for beginners: you don't need to know anything about flowers, just the willingness to learn. If you already work with flowers and want to go professional, the "Professional floristry" course gives you the technique and the business understanding that were missing.
